When 14-year-old Danielle was left with extra time on her hands last year while schools and activities were shut down, she decided to get creative. “I have loved animals – especially dogs – my whole life,” said Danielle. “It’s why I want to be a vet someday. There were so many dogs in my neighborhood and helping out with them seemed like a great way to combine doing something that I love and raising money to help North Shore Animal League America.”
To her new endeavor, Danielle brought years of experience taking care of her own rescue dogs at home. After Danielle began offering her services to local pet owners, she soon had a full schedule of dog walking, dog sitting and even giving her four-legged clients baths. Her parents were amazed and impressed with the dedication and enthusiasm she brought to her responsibilities. “Danielle never missed a walk in over a year of running her business,” said David, Danielle’s dad. “She was out there in all kinds of weather, and was truly a shining example of what commitment means. I could not be prouder.”
Recently, Danielle visited Animal League America, along with her family, to present a check for $1,000. As a surprise for Danielle, she was greeted by two endearingly playful Shepherd mix puppies — recent rescues from Tennessee — whom she immediately snuggled in her arms. It is thanks to gifts like Danielle’s, and from all our supporters and animal advocates, that those puppies and countless more will be saved and loved. We are so grateful for Danielle’s devotion to our mission, and the reminder that every effort reverberates to make a big impact for homeless animals.
